Chrysalis
Del lat. cient. chrysalida, y este del gr. χρυσαλλίς, -ίδος chrysallís, -ídos, der. de χρυσός chrysós ‚oro‘, por su frecuente color dorado. Transformación.
„Al salir de su crisálida, la mariposa se transforma por completo. No sólo es inexplicablemente mucho más hermosa de lo que había sido, sino que también desempeña una función para la naturaleza que es la opuesta a la de su encarnación en oruga. En lugar de engullir sin sentido la vegetación, la mariposa revolotea de flor en flor, comiendo muy poco, sin destruir nada, y sin darse cuenta sirve como polinizador, permitiendo que florezcan más flores“. *
Realizamos Chrysalis en una cueva de la costa de Ibiza. Yo había llegado sola unos años antes, y la isla me acogió e hizo posible mi transformación y que desplegara mis alas.
Cubrí la piel de mi hija y la mía con arcilla de las entrañas de esta tierra, en conexión orgánica con ella, y nos envolvimos de forma simbólica en oro isotérmico, el material con el que cubrimos a los que llegan ateridos a las costas mediterráneas.
Yo sí he tenido la oportunidad, como una crisálida, de dejar una vida atrás y buscar una nueva.
Con los ojos cerrados, soñamos una transformación de nuestra especie, donde actuásemos cada vez más como las mariposas, para sanar nuestra relación con la naturaleza y entre nosotros.

Chrysalis
From latin chrysal(I)is-from Greek Krusallis, from Krusos ¨gold¨(because of the gold color or metallic sheen of some pupae).
A transitional state.
“Upon its maiden flight from its chrysalis, a butterfly is utterly transformed from its former state. Not only is it inexplicably far more beautiful than it had been, but also it performs a function for nature that is the opposite of that of its caterpillar incarnation. Instead of munching its way mindlessly through vegetation, the butterfly flits from flower to flower, partaking of very little, destroying nothing, and inadvertently serves as a pollinator, enabling more flowers to bloom.”*
We created Chrysalis in a cave on the coast of Ibiza. I had arrived alone a few years earlier, and the island embraced me and made possible my transformation and spreading wings.
I covered my daughter’s skin and mine with clay from the heart of this land, in organic connection with it, and we wrapped ourselves symbolically in isothermal gold, the material with which we cover those who arrive frozen to the Mediterranean coasts.
I have had the opportunity, like a chrysalis, to leave one life behind and look for a new one.
With our eyes closed, we dreamed of a transformation of our species, where we would increasingly behave like butterflies and act to heal our relationship with nature and with each other.
